Internship Opportunities

A limited number of project opportunities is available for this summer starting May 26th 2014. The duration is 10-12 weeks. Involvement in this project is unpaid and completely virtual. Some of the projects start as early as 7.30 a.m. eastern time. Project mentor will be involved in the early hours and the hours are flexible for the rest of the day.

     Current Project Opportunities
     Mobile App Development

Current projects involve developing Android mobile apps and Windows Mobile apps. Applications are developed using J2ME wireless toolkit and Open-source code. Some of the previous projects include ‘SendSMS’ – a student/staff communication network and ‘ImageSwitcher’ – customized retrieving photo storage.

     Object oriented programming

One of the ongoing projects is developing an ATM banking system for a regional bank.The developed application is considered to the version upon the system, which is proposed to be built with the content and touch of the oracle as the centralize database with oracle 9i as the database. The overall banking ATM system is planned in the format of distributed architecture as the database platform. The proposals are planned to keep the entire architecture to be browser (IE, Mozilla, Chrome) specific.

     Web Development Project

Among the web projects, an inventory management project has current opportunity for internship. The main and sub-projects are built with HTML/CSS, PHP, ASP.NET and C#. Learning features include creating prototype sub-pages, developing/ structuring inventory databases, utilizing SQL for each application and establishing database connectivity.

     Data Mining

Oracle’s Data Mining Suit and Microsoft’s SQL Server platforms are available for Data mining projects. Advanced statistical products like SPSS, SAS and S-Plus offer data mining algorithm implementations. An SQL Server project opportunity may be available to use the inbuilt algorithms such as Decision Trees, Clusters and Naïve Bayes.
